MAP's MBPP Speaker Series: Faith Based Role in Planning
The Intersection of Faith-Based Work and Community Development

The Michigan Association of Planning's Black Professional Planners Education Committee has developed a thought-provoking series to bring together urban planning professionals, community advocates, and policy experts to discuss the most pressing issues impacting Black communities.
This series will meet several times are year seeks to spark meaningful dialogue, cultivate connections across the state's Black urban planning community, and explore how innovative urban planning strategies can shape more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable communities. Each session will delve into key topics from housing policy to transportation, land use, and environmental justice.
Our first event in the series will explore how religious institutions and faith leaders contribute to the development, stabilization, revitalization, and well-being of urban communities. The discussion will highlight the historical and contemporary role of faith-based organizations (FBOs) in addressing issues such as affordable housing, economic development, social services, and community advocacy. Come and join us, we want to hear your thoughts! This event seeks to integrate learning, dialogue, networking, and ideation among local Black planning Professionals. Light refreshments provided.
