The Michigan Association of Planning is an organization dedicated to promoting sound community planning that benefits the residents of the state. The Association was established in 1945 to achieve a desired quality of life through comprehensive community planning that includes opportunities for a variety of lifestyles and housing, employment, commercial activities, and cultural and recreational amenities.
Members may participate in the development of the Association through election to the Board of Directors or appointment to various committees such as the Scholarship, Marketing, Education, Information, Annual Conference, or Networking Committees.
Today, the Association has a membership of more than 5,300. Eighty percent of its members are citizens appointed to planning commissions and zoning boards of appeals. Members serve in a variety of capacities:
